FOURTH NYU VIRTUAL PATIENT SEMINAR:

The Office of the Senior Vice Provost for Research is pleased
to announce the fourth in a series of seminars this year on the
theme of the "Virtual Patient".  All interested faculty and
staff are welcome.

All talks are jointly hosted by the Courant Institute and the
School of Medicine, and will alternate between these two venues.
This next talk, to be held on Thursday, March 23 between
4pm and 6pm, will be held in the 12th floor conference room
of the department of computer science, at 715-719 Broadway
(between Waverly St. and Washington Place).

The Virtual Patient (VP) is an initiative that uses simulation
and modeling of the patient, and of the interface between
doctor and patient, to help bridge the gap between medical
research and clinical practice.  VP research occupies interesting
territory already being explored by physicians, computer
scientists, psychologists, biologists, physicists, mathematicians,
educators and others.  The purpose of the series is to establish
common research goals and areas of concentration within the
university and to foster collaborations that will advance
research into these areas.

This fourth meeting will consist of two 30 minute talks beginning
at 4pm, alternating with informal discussion.  The speakers at
this event will be Dr. Chris Lucas (Associate Professor of Psychiatry)
and Yann LeCun (Professor of Computer Science).

Refreshments will be served, courtesy of the Office of
the Senior Vice Provost for Research.
