R E A D I N G

The reading, chapter 1 of Norman's 'Design of Everyday Things', was fairly straight foward. Norman cited several examples of cases where designers focuses on aesthetics and ignored appropriate user interfaces. He suggests that the design of an object should clearly have visible indicators of intended use/function. The entire article reminded me of the standard mantra of the modernist period in architecture "form follows function".


P R O J E C T

       Possible ideas for the 3rd project include :
                     * somehow using a 'water fountain' as a device with a specific action.
                     * pressure sensitive mouse for computer - with molding or sculpting capabilities
                     * first week idea of a pillow switch - turns off all electronic devices in a room when a person falls asleep
                     * ovulation watch
