Multimodal Interfaces Terminology
nMultimodal Interfaces - interfaces that process two or more input modes in a coordinate manner with multimedia output.
nActive Input Modes – modes that are intentionally deployed by the as an explicit command.
nPassive Input Modes – modes that consist of naturally occurring user behaviors or actions that provide input to an application and do not require an explicit command.
nBlended Multimodal Interfaces – multimodal interfaces that incorporate at least one passive and one active input mode
nTemporally-cascaded Multimodal Interfaces – multimodal interfaces whose modalities tend to be sequenced in a particular temporal order such that partial information from one modality is available to constrain interpretation of a later mode.
